Summer Heat, So Sweet!

The gentle tinkling of wind chimes is a familiar sound during Japanese summer festivals.

Yes, I know. It’s hot—so hot. Sometimes unbearably so. Hanging out with friends and family becomes tricky when you’re drenched in sweat five minutes after stepping outside. You want to enjoy yourself, not feel like you’re stuck in a sauna.

That’s why I’ve rounded up cool summer activities in Osaka and the Kansai area that let you enjoy Japan’s beautiful culture and nature—without overheating.

Fun That’s NOT in the Hot Sun

Did you know that in Japan, places often adjust their hours in summer to help people avoid the extreme midday heat? Some venues open as early as 6:00 AM, while others host special night events—just so people can explore, play, and relax without risking heat exhaustion.

That means you can still experience Japan at its best, without the sunburn.

Speaking of, you can hear about my Summer night adventure below with a few other Summer adventures.
