Studying Japanese in Japan – Find your language school
April is the start of the new school year in Japan, when students will get o know their new classmates, teachers and subjects.
Not just for high school students but, April is also the start of the new school year in the majority of Japanese Language Schools. The year is usually divided into four semesters and the terms start in January, April, July and October.
Maybe some of you were thinking to start a Japanese Language School here in Tokyo from April but are still hesitating to come for various reasons. Luckily, many language schools take students take students in throughout the whole year. Each school is happy to provide all the necessary information to its prospective students. To chose the best school for you is of course no easy task and we cannot tell you “this is the best school!”. Each school is different, so before really setting on one school, you should ask yourself what you want (besides learning Japanese). Do you want your school to be in a popular area like Shibuya? If yes, do you want to live close-by and are OK with living costs being higher than in other areas? Or would you prefer being in a smaller, more local neighborhood and live close to your school? Do you want to see see quick results and study Japanese thoroughly in intensive courses or would you rather go to classes from time to time and have lots of free time to explore Japan? All these questions are worth considering when choosing your language school because different schools satisfy different needs. Of course, it can be a good idea to look for recommendations online but as it is always the thing with online reviews, be a little bit critical with them because maybe the person just had different expectations of the school.
