If there’s one thing (or many) to know about me, it’s that I love food, magical movie moments, and, most of all, love itself. As a hopeful romantic, I feel it is my sworn duty to provide you with some amazing date ideas to celebrate love—whether you’re spending the day solo, with friends, or with a special someone.
I’ll suggest date ideas that my inner lover girl dreams about and that I hope you’ll love, too. As Mahatma Gandhi once said, “Where there is love, there is life.” Now, let me show you some wonderful activities that will enhance your life haha!
1) Candlelight Concerts

This is an activity I’ve been wanting to do for a while, and I think it would be such a dreamy, romantic date. Imagine dressing up and attending an elegant candlelit orchestra performance.
Candlelight concerts in Osaka have a variety of themes that I just know you’ll love. If you’re into ABBA, there’s a performance happening soon. As a huge fan of Joe Hisaishi, I’ve been dying to attend the candlelight performance where they play Merry-Go-Round of Life from Howl’s Moving Castle. There’s even a Bridgerton-themed event coming up—sooooo romantic!
Check out their events and find one that fills you with love. This experience is perfect for a first date and is sure to leave a lasting impression. 😉
2)Hankyu Umeda: Valentine’s Chocolate Expo 2025
Who doesn’t love chocolate? Why not celebrate with a trip to a chocolate expo? At Hankyu Umeda’s Valentine’s Chocolate Expo 2025, you can sample chocolates from around the world!
This exclusive event runs until February 14 and is a delightful way to treat yourself (or someone special) on the sweetest holiday of the year.
3)International Valentines Party

Don’t want to spend Valentine’s Day alone but don’t have a date? No worries—I got you!
Tired of dating apps like Tinder, Bumble, and Pairs? If you’d rather meet someone in person in a positive setting, I highly recommend attending an international Valentine’s party. Whether you’re looking for romance or just a new friend, these events provide a fun opportunity to meet people.
For example, WhyNot Japan is hosting a Valentine’s party on February 10. This could be your chance at love! Check out Meetup or other local event listings for more speed-dating or social events. <3 <3 <3
4)Tea Time!

As a girl who loves teatime, I can’t recommend an afternoon tea date enough! The Ritz-Carlton Osaka is hosting a special Valentine’s Day-themed afternoon tea, and I highly recommend it. Anyone can go and everyone is welcome :). I’ve gone to some of the food and buffet events held at the Ritz Carlton and have thoroughly enjoyed each one! Remember, anyone can go—so bring a friend, a date, or just treat yourself!
5) Put It In a Letter
Writing words of amore~~~ Isn’t writing love letters just the cutest thing? Why not send one to your future self, your partner, or even the universe to manifest love? There’s a charming Lover’s Postbox in Namba where people write love letters. Make it a pit stop on your Valentine’s Day adventure!

6) Pray for Love During Your Shrine Visit
I don’t know about you, but I’m definitely visiting a love shrine this year to pray for love—not just for myself but for my loved ones, too. Love makes the world go round, right? And a little extra love never hurts.
One of Osaka’s best-known shrines for love is Tsuyu-no-Ten Shrine. It’s the perfect spot to set your romantic intentions!
7) Lock it In With A Keypad Lock

At Grand Front Osaka, you can seal your love with a padlock! The Umeda Sky Building (Kuchu Teien Observatory) has a designated spot where couples write their names on love locks as a heartfelt keepsake.
Before you go, check out my previous adventure at Grand Front Osaka in this blog:
8) It’s Written in The Crystal Ball: Love Fortune telling!
Curious about what’s in store for your love life? Why not visit a fortune teller?
A few years ago, I had my fortune told, and according to Teru, this year is supposed to be my year for love! XD Check out my past fortune-telling adventure: Getting My Fortune Told in Japan)
You can also check out a fortune teller who specializes in love in Shinsekai here. I’m VERY tempted to go to see if I’m headed n the right direction with love this year.
9) Abeno Haruka’s Star Gazing
I celebrated my 22nd birthday at Abeno Harukas and absolutely loved it! There are always fun events happening there. Right now, they’re hosting a stargazing tour, which is perfect for an intimate and romantic experience. Imagine looking up at the stars with your date—so dreamy!
10) Ghost? Pottery Moment Have that Magical Movie Moment!
This last activity is something that I am hoping to do in the future. We’ve all seen Ghost with Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze, right? Why not have your own romantic pottery moment?
Here is a link to one place where you can do pottery in Osaka. Isn’t it so romantic to make a Valentine’s Day Keepsake with your boo thang? I know you want to!
Happy Loving!
