Spooky Month

Now that it’s spooky scary month, I am really getting into the Halloween spirit! I recently decided that October was my favorite month for numerous reasons, one being Halloween and the festive spirit that comes with it. That being said, what better way than to celebrate with a little cosplay? Better yet, cosplay at a themed café! Looking cute while eating cute food, what could be better?

Rather than being Alice, I was really interested in dressing up as the Red Queen and going to the Alice in Fantasy Land Café in Umeda.

I remember having a pleasant experience the first time I went to this café a few years ago, so I was really looking forward to going back. With determination set in, I put on my red wig and was ready to dine like a queen.

Reserving a Spot at the Tea Table

If you’re like me and procrastinate on almost everything, you’re in luck to know that you can book a reservation on the day you decide to go to this cafe. The process was easy to understand and work through online. Using the link right here, you can easily book a reservation! Or you can go through 楽天ぐるなび or the TableCheck. All options should be available to book in English. The reservation can be made within seconds! I chose the 11:30 lunchtime, though they are open until 10PM.

Walking Into a Fantasy Book

It may be a little bit difficult to find, so it would be best if you could give yourself an extra five or 10 minutes to make sure you understand the location of the place. It’s located in DD House and is extremely hard to miss as you literally have card guards standing outside the beautifully decorated cafe to greet you. It’s only about 5 minutes from the Hankyuu Umeda Station.

We’re All Mad Here

As soon as you walk in, you are transported to the world of Alice in Wonderland. Pages enlarged and straight from the book decorate the wall as you see cute little Alice in her adventures from the Alice in Wonderland novel. As you walk through, you are immediately greeted by an employee at the register who will ask if you have made a reservation, to which you can tell her your name and the time that you made the reservation for. After, one of the waitresses, will kindly guide you to your themed seat. Depending on the party size, you’ll be sat at a specific table. Since it was just my friend and me, we were led to the トランプの迷宮 (or the ‘playing card labyrinth’) that allows for a semi-private conversation between 2 to 4 people.

The employees were extremely kind about my friend and me moving around and taking pictures since there were not so many people around. Not everyone comes here and cosplays, so it was fun to see the reactions of some of the customers. Overall, everyone was extremely kind and I was even able to get pictures with some of the other customers.

Eat Me, Drink Me

One of the things I love about this café is how many options there are for food and how delicious and filling everything is. My friend ordered the pasta set while I ordered the avocado and shrimp set. All of which came with a drink, corn soup, a mini salad with the zestiest and tastiest salad dressing, the main course meal, and cake to top everything off. I also ordered a parfait because I completely forgot my meal came with dessert LOL. Despite it being lunchtime, I was extremely satisfied with my meal. I easily give it an 8 out of 10!

Not All Who Wander Are Lost

I vaguely remembered how interesting the bathrooms were from the first time I went to visit. So I asked my friend if we could take pictures in the bathroom to which she eagerly agreed! Even if you don’t have to go to the bathroom, I suggest you go just to take a picture or two to get the full experience.

Instagramable?

I have talked about it before and I’ll say it again. Every café, restaurant, and place I go to gets bonus points if it is Instagramable. Of course, Alice in Fantasy Land Café was no exception as it’s practically what the place was built for. Right from the outside to the inside to even the bathrooms, I wanted to take pictures of absolutely everything!

Every Adventure Requires a First Step

As a whole, I recommend this cute little café to anyone who happens to be in the Osaka area. Feel free to dress up and have your queen/king fantasy just as I did and just make sure to have fun. The employees were very welcoming, the food was delicious, the decorations were absolutely beautiful, and I will definitely be returning again- maybe without my tiara next time though.
