Are you looking to highlight your features? I recently dove into the world of beauty treatments to enhance my look, and—boy, do I have an eye-opening experience to share! Join me as I get my eyelashes and eyebrows done in Umeda in Osaka, Japan.
Eye See You
Lately, I’ve become fascinated with makeup and beauty treatments. I’ve been binge-watching tutorials in preparation for an upcoming pageant I’m competing in—look forward to my article on getting glam in Japan! Naturally, I was curious about ways to enhance my features and decided to get an eyelash perm and to get my eyebrows done.
Naturally, I was very curious about what I could do to enhance the features that my parents blessed me with, just as you might be curious about for yourself too! My eyelashes are already longish (?), and my eyebrows are naturally thick, BUT I really wanted to shape them up~
Searching For An Eyebrow/Eyelash Salon
Osaka has a lot of options for eyelash and eyebrow services, so I researched places with high ratings and impressive before-and-after photos. In the end, my search led me to Daisy Lash. I ended up choosing Daisy Lash due to the convenient location as well as the before and after pictures that I saw.
The Process
You go in and they hand you a sheet with information that you answer about what you want and your skin type.
Eyebrows
The process began with a consultation on the eyebrow shape I wanted. I asked for her recommendation, and she mapped out the area for waxing.
From my angle, it looked like the brows would be even… But it’s really hard to tell given that she did the lining when I already had eyebrow makeup on from earlier in the day.
I should have insisted more about taking off my makeup but the technician assured me, “No, it’s okay. You don’t need to take off your makeup.”
Give or take, all I had was my eyebrows penciled in a little and a bit of eyeshadow, but still. I should have insisted after multiple times of asking her. It’s just a lesson learned to advocate more for myself. I should have simply said I wanted to take the makeup off because it would make me feel more comfortable to do so.
Then she applied the wax strips annddddd….
Pulled!!!
I will say it was super painless and this is definitely great for people who are sensitive to pain. The only part that was a little painful was the plucking, but that was expected. I haven’t had my eyebrows done since I was 18 I think, but this was sooo different from that experience. I was really surprised by how painless it was~
Eyelashes
Next, we moved on to my eyelashes. I requested a slight curl and added length, opting for a “Parisian perm” without extensions to keep it natural. I really just wanted my eyelashes to be natural so I made sure I just ‘extended’ my eyelashes, no extensions or additions.
My eyes were closed and I think I dozed off for a bit, but from what I could tell, she applied the perm solution, and then used paper to hold my lashes up. The whole process took around 30-40 minutes. Time flew by during this part in my opinion!
Eyebrow End Result…
You’ll notice that my eyebrows turned out slightly uneven, and my eyelashes, in my humble opinion, virtually looked the same as before. I think the slight curl to the tips of my eyelashes is cute though!
The next day, I had to return to have another technician attempt to fix my eyebrows after the initial job was botched. They did it for free, which was great but they were not able to align my eyebrows in the end.
They also don’t offer refunds.
The second technician was very apologetic, but I felt bad that she had to fix the previous woman’s mistake. I appreciated her efforts and hard work though, it was very clear that she wanted to help me as best she could~
While I can’t say this was the most pleasant experience, I will say that it is certainly a lesson learned and I’m looking forward to the next location I can go to around Osaka that can do eyelashes/eyebrows.
Ever-LASHting Happiness?
It is certainly worthwhile to get your eyebrows and eyelashes done as it is a great way to enhance your look! (What I had done was the Parisian eyelash perm and eyebrow shaping). My advice: If you’re considering getting your eyebrows and eyelashes done in Japan, DO IT! But just do your research and make sure to check the reviews in order to get the best experience 🙂
While there are some things I would have preferred to go differently, it was a learning experience and I definitely want to try again in the future! Luckily, eyebrow hair grows back, so no big loss. Don’t hesitate to try a few beauty tweak-ments on your next trip to Japan.
