Are you looking for a way to deeply moisturize, hydrate, and revive your curly hair? Or maybe you’re trying to style a new look and need a reliable gel that won’t dry out your curls? If that sounds like you, then let me introduce you to a wonderful Japanese haircare brand called Momori!

Curly Hair in Japan?

This post is especially for anyone living in Japan who’s looking for hydrating and nourishing hair products—especially my fellow Black women and curly-haired girls in Japan who know how challenging it can be to find products that actually work for our hair types.

When I first moved here, it was a constant struggle to find something that moisturized my hair without leaving it greasy or heavy. A lot of local products are made for straight or fine hair, which can make our curls feel dry, brittle, or even waxy.
That’s why I was so happy when I discovered Momori (ももり)—a Japanese haircare brand that focuses on hydration, shine, and softness using gentle, peach-derived ingredients.
Momori is a peach-scented line of products that has become one of my absolute favorites for hydrating natural and curly hair here in Japan.

For reference, I have a mix of different hair textures, ranging from 3C to 4C, so my hair needs deep moisture and lightweight hold. Everyone’s hair is unique, but these products have been a real game-changer for me.

What’s So Special About Momori Hair Ingredients?

There are many reasons to love Momori, but let’s start with three major points that make this line stand out: ingredients, scent, and hydration.
✨Ingredients
Momori’s ingredient list is actually quite impressive. Some key ingredients include:
- Cyclopentasiloxane: Smooths hair and adds shine without weighing it down.
- Butylene glycol: A humectant that helps the hair retain moisture.
- Peach blossom extract, peach leaf extract, peach oil, and peach water: These are Momori’s signature ingredients! They help soften and condition hair while giving it that signature peach scent.
- Mineral oils and plant extracts: Add shine and protection to each strand.
Momori uses four types of peach-derived ingredients, which makes the entire line feel luxurious yet lightweight. It’s perfect for natural, curly, and textured hair that needs consistent moisture.
✨Scent
Let’s be honest—nothing feels better than when someone hugs you and says, “Wow, your hair smells amazing!”
Momori’s scent is exactly what you’d expect: sweet peaches! 🍑 It’s soft, fruity, and refreshing without being too strong. Personally, I love using hair products that smell nice, and this one gives my hair that sweet and subtle scent I can’t get enough of.

✨Hydration Perks
The main reason I love Momori is how hydrated my hair feels after using it. The formula locks in moisture so well! My curls stay soft, defined, and bouncy.
One of the most unique things about Momori products is how they retain moisture. Instead of the hydration evaporating or slipping off your strands, the formula helps your hair hold onto it longer, making it perfect for the dry winter air or Japan’s humid summers.
✨BONUS: Hair and Skin Friendly
Another cute little perk is that if you have leftover product on your hands, you can actually use it as a moisturizing hand or body cream! Their official website even mentions that it’s safe for your skin, which shows how gentle their ingredients are.
Momo Products and My Mini Review

Now for the fun part—my mini Momori product review! These are the items I’ve bought, tested, and loved. I’ll also explain how I use each one and what kind of hairstyle it works best for.
Momori has three main lines:
- Hair Care Series
•Hair Makeup Series
•In-Bath Series
Most of my favorites are from the Hair Care Series.

✨•Momori Moist Hair Cream, For Hard/ Thick Hair
This is my go-to moisturizer! I use it almost every night, mixing it with another cream for a nice, rich combo. It keeps my hair soft and easy to detangle the next morning.

✨•Momori Fluffy Arrangement Natural Hair Wax
I absolutely love this product. I mix it with the Moist Hair Cream for a soft, defined hold. This combo gives my curls structure without stiffness—perfect for twist-outs or when I want that natural “fluffy” look.

This spray is great for adding shine and vibrancy to curls. I love using it when I want my hair to catch the light and feel more lively. For Black hair, this is a huge plus since light doesn’t always reflect off curls easily.
I use this on days when I want a light boost of hydration—especially when I plan to wash my hair later. It absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave any buildup.
This product is a must-have for controlling flyaways or achieving sleek hairstyles. If you love buns or ponytails, this helps smooth everything perfectly.
Ideal for sleek buns or ponytails! It has a slightly oily texture, so I use just a little at a time. It provides great hold while keeping hair moisturized.

This one’s okay—it’s good for quick midday touch-ups but not as hydrating as my go-tos. Still, a good option for emergency frizz control. Just something quick and nothing to weigh my hair down~
A newer product I’ve been trying! I like applying it before bed, then wrapping my hair with a scarf. It helps define my waves overnight.
Also another new product, I think!
This is a great choice if you’re into sleek, wet-look styles. I use this one less often, but it’s good for holding edges or defining curls on wash day.
There are many more Momori products, but these are the ones I personally recommend and use regularly. You can check out the rest on the official Momori website.

Hairstyles Using Momori Products

Here are 5 simple hairstyles I like to create using Momori products.
After washing my hair, I usually follow the LCO method (Leave-in, Cream, Oil):
- Leave-in: I start with my Blueberry Bliss Leave-In Conditioner.
- Cream: Then I mix Momori Natural Hair Wax with Momori Moist Hair Cream for Thick Hair.
- Oil: Finish with a light oil to seal everything in.
I often braid or tie my hair into two pigtails before bed, so when I wake up, I have soft, wavy curls that are easy to style in the morning.

Since starting this method about three months ago, I’ve noticed fewer split ends and less breakage. I truly believe Momori helped my hair recover after years of dyeing!
- Low Bun
Simple and easy~

- Braided Low Bun
Party in the front AND back. Tucked my braided bangs to the back and into my bun~

- Half Ponytail with Braids
I parted my hair (half up and half down). Then, I took the bottom section and split it into two braids before crossing the braids upward and pulling it into my ponytail.

- Down and Wavy
Just braid it the night before and go lol~

- Rock a Scarf
Pin your hair back (the night before after moisturizing and sleeking down your baby hair. In the morning, just pull the scarf back slightly to show your baby hair and go~) Or just do it in the morning!

- Simple Ponytail
Tie your hair back and let it flow.

Happy Hairstyling!
I hope this post helps you refresh your hair routine and discover a few new styling ideas. I know firsthand how hard it can be to find quality curly hair products in Japan, but Momori has truly made my life easier (and my curls shinier!).
